GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION & INFRASTRUCUTURE
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI)
is the body in charge of trade and related developments
for Singapore. Under MTI, there are several statutory
boards, each looking after specific areas:
Trade Promotion
- EDB
- Economic Development Board and its objectives of
Industry 21 - for Singapore to be a vibrant and robust
global hub of knowledge-driven industries.
- IE Singapore
- International Enterprise Singapore is to be the one-stop
agency for international market development, and to
continuously upgrade the trade facilitation infrastructure,
procedures and documentation to boost trade flows
through Singapore.
Infrastructural Support
- JTC
- Jurong Town Corporation which is involved in preparing
the infrastructure to support the policies of the
Singapore government, including a Technopreneur
Centre.
- PUB
- Public Utilities Board is tasked to provide Singapore
with the basic amenities of electricity, water and
piped gas.
Research & Development
- A*STAR
- Agency for Science, Technology and Research focuses
on knowledge creation and exploitation of scientific
discoveries for a better world
- SINGSTAT
- Singapore Department of Statistics has to ensure
that Singapore is able to offer the required facts
and figures during her marketing trips!
- SPSB
- Singapore Productivity and Standards Board was established
to ensure that Singapore companies are aware of international
standards of operations and to keep up standards and
quality to ensure competitiveness.
Tourism Related
- SDC
- Sentosa Development Corporation has the task of
ensuring that Singaporeans and tourists have a 'holiday-like'
destination to retreat to whenever they need to take
a break!
- STB
- Singapore Tourism Board is tasked to attract tourism-related
companies to invest in Singapore, encourage the development
of new attractions and experiences, and thereby creating
new opportunities for the industry.
Together they hoped to achieve their mission
statement :
To promote high and stable levels
of economic growth and employment, so that all Singaporeans
have ample opportunity to improve their standard of
living.

Singapore Intellectual Property Law Resources provides
the basic starting points on issue of law for the various
