Singapore is a small country and the government
has been encouraging SMEs to consider adding another wing
to their business - namely an overseas wing. The call
to move into markets of China in the 90s, and lately India,
has made many SMEs look towards this area. However, doing
business itself is fraught with risk. Much less doing
it overseas.
Singapore-Business.com wants to assist
business owners lower the risk of doing business overseas.
There are two approaches:
- the first is to take a flight
into the country you want and explore the opportunities
- the second is to work with trusted people or companies
from that country
Singapore-business.com has a third approach;
which is to have business people promote their overseas
business opportunities in Singapore and to ask for fellow
SME owners to consider working with them.
This way not only are the risks minimized
but also local business owners meet, network and over
time perhaps form a consortium to tackle bigger projects
overseas. Like what the Taiwanese and HongKong business
people are doing in China. We hope that through such an
approach, sob stories about spectacular failures in China
(and maybe soon in India) will be a thing of the past!
